Awareness Campaign - March

27th March 2011 - APPLE Prostate Cancer Awareness Day

On Sunday 27th March, 2011 from 2pm to 4pm, APPLE held a Prostate Cancer Awareness Day at King George Hospital, Goodmayes - Outpatients Dept. This event was well attended by members of the public and was opened by Mr Mike Gates MP. The event had been publicised in the local media and through the handing out of flyers at Queen's Hospital and Ilford shopping centre during the week prior to the event.

The Awareness day provided people with an opportunity to meet with others in very informal settings and to have time for informal interaction with experts. Posters, videos and information booklets about Prostate Cancer were available and greatly received. Medical staff gave demonstrations on how keyhole surgery is used in Prostate Cancer operations, and even encouraged visitors to have a go at using the equipment to experience life as a Surgeon!

We thank everyone who helped make this event possible, especially King George's Hospital for allowing us to use the Outpatients Dept and all the staff who supported the event.
